Hello, I'm Claude
portrait & Wedding Photographer
Hi, I’m Claude Smith.
I originally got into photography because I loved being outdoors and capturing landscapes around North Florida. There’s just something about early mornings, back roads, old trees, and sunsets that made me want to freeze those moments in time.
Over the years, though, I started realizing the photos I connected with most were the honest ones involving people. The moments nobody plans for. A real laugh. A nervous smile. Someone looking at the person they love without realizing a camera is pointed at them.
That’s what pushed me toward candid portrait and wedding photography.
I’m not a photographer who wants every image to feel overly posed or fake. I’d rather capture people as they actually are. My goal is to create photos that feel natural and tell a real story instead of just looking perfect for social media.
Whether it’s a wedding, couples session, family photos, or senior portraits, I try to keep things relaxed and easygoing. Most people say they’re awkward in front of a camera, and honestly, that’s completely normal. Some of the best photos come from the moments in between poses anyway.
Outside of photography, I’m a husband, dad, Army veteran, gamer, and someone who genuinely enjoys meeting new people and hearing their stories. I think that helps me connect with the people I photograph and create images that actually feel personal.
Thanks for stopping by, and I’d love the chance to work with you.
My approach

I’ve always liked photos that feel real.
The biggest thing for me is capturing people naturally instead of making every moment feel posed or forced. I’m not going to spend an entire session telling you exactly where to put your hands or asking for fake smiles every few seconds. Most people are not models, and honestly, they shouldn’t have to be.
For portraits, I try to keep things relaxed and comfortable. We’ll talk, walk around, joke a little, and just let things happen naturally. I’ll still give direction when needed, especially if you’re unsure what to do, but I’m usually looking for the moments in between the poses anyway. The real smile after laughing at something dumb. The way someone naturally carries themselves when they stop thinking about the camera.
That’s the stuff I love capturing.
With weddings and events, I take a similar approach. I’m paying attention to everything happening around me instead of constantly interrupting moments to recreate them. Some of the best photos from a wedding are the small things people do not even realize are happening at the time. Parents getting emotional during the ceremony. Friends laughing in the background. The quick little moments between couples when they think nobody is watching.
Of course we’ll still get the important portraits and family photos, but I never want the entire day to feel like one long staged photoshoot. I want people to actually enjoy themselves and be present while I document it as honestly as I can.
I’m drawn to natural light, real emotion, movement, and images that feel timeless instead of overly polished. At the end of the day, I want your photos to feel like memories you can step back into years from now.
